What types of closures are there?
There is a whole range of fasteners, some of which differ greatly from one another. Classic fasteners include, for example, shoelaces, buttons with buttonholes and zippers. However, other solutions are also available. The Gudo range includes the following fasteners, for example:

Rotary closures
With twist locks is one of the most popular and widely used types of fastener. They consist of a rotating knob with straps or ropes on two sides. If the user turns the knob to the left, the straps or ropes shorten. Turning it to the right makes them longer again.
The rotary movements are therefore used to tighten or loosen the shoe, helmet or other object. The knob makes it possible to determine exactly how tight the hold should be. A shoe that is too tight can be loosened with just one movement, while it can be tightened in the same way.
Ideally, the screw cap is equipped with a fast-release function. This allows the user to open the fastener immediately and quickly. This can be useful, for example, if a ski boot is jammed between two stones and the wearer wants to free their foot. The fast-release function is usually triggered by pressing the center of the rotary knob.
At Gudo you will find various screw caps. The Swock for example, is equipped with a rotary dial that has a soft-touch surface. This means it can even be operated with gloves. It is also possible to equip the dial with an LED light to make it easier to use in dimly lit environments.
A smaller version of the Swock is the Swocky. It is particularly useful in environments where the shutter needs to be as small and light as possible. This model can also be fitted with an LED light on request.
Ratchet fasteners
Also frequently used are Ratchet fasteners. Its central element is a lever that can be swiveled. This type of fastener is operated with a Timing belt used. By pivoting the lever, the buckle can be moved by one tooth on the belt. Depending on whether the fastener is to be tightened or loosened, a corresponding movement is required.
Many ratchet fasteners are also equipped with a function that allows them to be fully opened immediately. This is usually done by pressing the lever all the way down.
You will also find ratchet fasteners in various designs in our range. The ratchets, for example, are characterized by particularly easy handling. Easy S and Easy L out. Depending on the model, our ratchet fasteners are designed for 18 or 22 millimeter straps or belts.
Clamping fasteners
Clamping fasteners are also used in combination with toothed belts. The belt is cut to the correct length and the lever of the fastener is then pressed down. This fixes the belt and keeps it in place.
Tension fasteners are a fairly simple, yet very efficient way of fastening. We offer various models that can be used with brackets, straps or steel cables.
Clips
With Clips toothed belts, textile straps and cables can be securely fastened. Most models consist of a steel base plate fitted with a spring-loaded toothed piece. Depending on the model, the clip is completely released when it is lifted or pressed down.

In which areas are closures used?
One area in which fasteners are particularly present is clothing. With certain types of footwear, for example, it is essential that they have a firm hold on the feet. This includes ski boots, for example. If they come loose during the journey, this puts the user's life in danger.
Even if cycling shoes lose their grip, this can become a problem given the high speeds involved. Similarly, groups of people who wear safety shoes must ensure that they are always firmly attached to their feet. Otherwise, it can be dangerous for firefighters, factory and construction workers and other occupational groups.
